Our Story

For Darrell Lanier, the passion for electronics started early. As a child, he was fascinated by how things worked, constantly taking apart and fixing gadgets around the house. With a natural talent for working with his hands, he found himself drawn to the world of electronics. While growing up in Philadelphia, he worked at an electronics store, gaining firsthand experience and deepening his technical knowledge.

And through it all, Darrell’s vision remains the same—to power connections, build relationships, and create lasting impact.

Darrell’s entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured by his parents. His father, a salesman, and his mother, a nurse, instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and perseverance. These principles became the foundation of what would eventually grow into Lanier Electronics Group, Inc. (LEG).

In 1992, Darrell turned his passion into a business, founding LEG in Prince George’s County, MD. Initially focused on electrical services, LEG provided commercial and residential wiring solutions under Darrell’s Master Electrician license. That same year, the company landed its first government contract with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), installing lighting, circuits, and standby generators.

By 1998, Darrell recognized the growing need for data communications and expanded LEG into low-voltage cabling services. This shift positioned the company at the forefront of IT infrastructure development, playing a key role in the Maryland Department of Education’s efforts to upgrade school networking systems.

As the years went on, Darrell’s philosophy of turning customers into friends helped LEG grow to new heights. His commitment to building strong relationships, delivering quality work, and exceeding client expectations led to lasting partnerships with major corporations, government entities, and private businesses.

Today, LEG stands as a trusted industry leader, offering a comprehensive suite of electrical, IT, and security solutions. What started as a childhood passion has evolved into a company known for excellence, innovation, and unwavering dedication to its clients.
